Thinking of becoming a clown? Probably you are also thinking about what your clown name should be. That is good because your clown name probably is the only name that you get to choose for yourself. Most of us didn't really had any say in hte names our parents gave us...ha-ha-ha.
Choosing a clown name should be done by keeping some guidelines in mind. Does your clown name say something about your clown, clown character, what it is you do as a clown etc. If your clown name is something like "Juggles", then people might expect that you can juggle. Something like "Ajax" the Magic clown might mean that you can do some magic routines.
Another VERY important factor to keep in mind is to make sure that you don't use another clown's name. You might not be aware of another clown of the same name at the time of choosing your name, but after working under such a name for a while, suddenly you might realize that somebody is booking shows "under your name". Working many years to built up a reputation as a good clown can suddenly suffer damage by some "new clown" on the block that is using the same name as you.
Advice to all new clowns: PLEASE ask around and hear from other clowns if they know if there are allready any other clowns using the name that you are thinking about using.
