It's not in the cupboard . . . iiiiiits on Top !
Why is Zimbo's hat so tall ? Wonder what's in there ? Can't be a bunny, must be a zebra. Love your hat Zimbo !
Why is a hat so important for a clown?
What type of hat; to suit your style, looks, character or performance?
Tell you what I think next time.

It's a good thing that you 2 should mention hats. A clowns hat could become a very valuable "clown tool". There is so much that a clown can do with a hat. In my clown training program I have often use a hat to demonstrate different clown character development ideas. I am busy planning to write and post clown character development program here in due time and it will include some clown hat ideas.
Just think about it for a minute; your hat could become some sort of "support" when your clown gets in trouble. You could drop it "by accident" and then have all sorts of problems to regain it. Just when you bent down to pick it up your leg comes forward and you kick your hat out of reach, just to be repeated.
You can pull one of Kallie's giant bunnys from your hat, surely there would be space a plently in Zimbo's hat for that.

When your clown is shy or embarresd just think about how you would show this without words by fumbling with the hat in your hands. You can playfully throw your hat into the audience and indicate they must throw it back to you. Don't catch it with your hands, try to catch it on your head instead.
Hat manipulation is a great skill to learn as is hat juggling.
Dressing audience members with different hats are also good for added "miles of smiles".

Like I said, I will give more ideas on possible uses of a clown hat in due time.
In the mean time see what ideas you can come up with to make your clown hat a funny clown tool.

In "Clown for circus and stage" from mark Stolzenberg he tells you to practise with your hat in front of the mirror as
1. Your best friend                          13. a symbol of poverty
2. an enemy                                    14. your lover
3. a toy                                            15. use it to say hello                   etc.
4. roof for your head
5. an obstacle
6. a handkerchief
7. a steering wheel
8. a trusty weapon
9. a pacifier
10. a symbol of wealth
11. a symbol of poverty
12. a pillow
