I will have to say eBay, works like a charm and sometimes the shipping is free. And boy are they cheap.

You can also find a bunch of magic shops on eBay:

Hi Poppy, proper clown shoes are in my opinion and experience on of the most important aspects and investments that any good clown that is serious about his/her clown character can (and must) make. Ask a child to describe what a clown looks like and more often than not you will hear "big shoes", (and amongst others also sometimes things such as red nose, funny hair etc.)
Some things that are very important when considering investing in professional clown shoes:
Keep in mind what you do in your clown act; If you ride a uni-cycle or do acrobatic movements, then you might want to consider long narrow shoes.
If you are doing none of that then rounder and "fatter" shoes will work.
What type of clown are you? Traditional whiteface clowns rarely have big shoes, mostly they have a shoe that can be described as a ballet shoe of sorts. Grotesque or comedy whiteface mostly have large shoes. August clowns have large shoes, single color or more often more than one color and sometimes as outlandish as their costumes. Character clown shoes will vary according to their respective characters, example: a cowboy clown probably might have clown boots, tramp or hobo clowns will do with shoes that are made to look as if they have seen better days, sporty type character clown might have big oversized sneakers etc.
A grotesque white face probably would not have a pair of tramp clown shoes.
Proper clowns shoes are rather expensive, but you really get what you pay for. At times I have spend over 14 hours in my clown shoes and they really are the most comfortable shoes that I have because they were custom made for my feet.
I bought my first pair in 1992 and still have them allthough I have put them into "semi retirement". They were made by Wayne Scott, a professional clown shoe maker, you can google that name. My wife, RUFFELS the clown got her pair of clown shoes in 1994 and still use that pair to this date.
Have a look on my facebook profile under Pieter Johannes Nortje to view these shoes as well as a pair that our daughter, CRAFTY the clown has.
Her shoes was made by a local shoe maker. I will try to look up his contact details and post it here sometime. He is out on the road to Ventersdorp past Kugersdorp.
I will also get some of the American clown shoe makers details and post it here. My second pair of clown shoes I have bought in 2005. They are made by Spears clown shoes and I bought them through Betty Cash. You can also google both these names.
Clown shoes from America can be from US$150-00 to $500-00 plus shipping and insurance.
My daughter has paid R950-00 for her locally made shoes but that was some years ago.

I hope that this helps some. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you need more info or advice on your investment in clown shoes.
I promise that once I have get the hang of this forum, I will try my very best to post some pic's of our shoes. I am a better clown than computer operator. Piet BUBBELS Nortje

I've got some clown show slippers, which a lady made me years ago. One is red and the other one yellow, and no, I don't have another pair looking like that. They don't look like clowns, but they are big and each have eyes and a mouth.

No way, they say crocs eats humans, don't know about clowns, but rather stay with my big shoes. Can't chose anyway, my feet is small and my toes is long, got to wear those shoes or I might fall over.

Clown shoes in South Africa can be made by a man with the name of Paul Dool and he can be contacted at 082 595 2166. My daughter, CRAFTY the clown had hers made by Paul in about 2003 and they are still looking very good. That time it was about R1000-00. Paul will forward his e-mail details to me and as soon as I have them I will post it here. He lives out past Krugersdorp somewhere on the Magaliesburg Randfontein road. He needs an idea of the colors you want in your shoes and also the size to enable him to give you a quote. Please contact me for advice on size, shape etc. After 22years of wearing professional clown shoes I am happy to share with you musts and must not's on clown shoes.
I know that Sylvester the clown and Giggels also bought their shoes from him. Check out the photos on my facebook profile, Pieter Johannes Nortje, the pink, purple and green pair of shoes are hers.

Otherwise you can also check out www.bettycash.com or www.mooseburger.com I know both Betty and Trish from 1992 and often do business with them. Not only will they sell you proper professional clown shoes, they can and will give professional advice. Both also supplies wigs, make-up costumes and more.
My first pair of clown shoes for Bubbels and also another pair for Troubles was ordered from Mooseburger and both pairs are Wayne Scott's originals. My second pair for Bubbels and also my wife Ruffels's clown shoes are from Betty and they are both John Spear shoes. If you want to you can mention my name to them, it might mean something, it might not. We have been friends for many years and I have trust in both Betty and Trish to provide you with the best possible service.

Google Spears shoes and Clown-so-port to see other very good clown shoes.
